NUMBER ONE DRINKS COMPANY
The Number One Drinks Company was founded in August 2006 to import and distribute Japan's finest whiskies throughout Europe.
Devotees of Japanese whisky since the 1990s, the company's founders were aware that many of these fantastic whiskies were difficult for enthusiasts to find outside Japan.
The company began trading in September 2006 with an initial shipment of award-winning single malts from the defunct Hanyu Distillery.
The Number One Drinks Company is the exclusive international partner for the whiskies of Hanyu – including the cult collectable Card Series, the new Chichibu distillery and single casks from Karuizawa distillery. Several award-winning whiskies now appear as independent bottlings by The Number One Drinks Company, including a Hanyu 1988 finished in a Japanese oak cask.
Whiskies are sourced in Japan and samples are assessed by a tasting panel prior to selection; casks are then purchased, bottled and shipped to the UK.
As well as specialist retailers in the UK, the company’s whiskies can be found in Belgium, Denmark, France, Germany, Holland, Norway, South Africa, Sweden and Switzerland.
