MARCIN MILLER - DIRECTOR
Following a Joint Honours degree in English Literature and French from the University of Liverpool, Marcin began a publishing career as an advertising sales executive at VNU on Personal Computer World in 1988. Thereafter, he worked at several publishing houses before joining Haymarket in 1992. Working at Quest Magazines, at the time a division of Haymarket, he became publisher of Wine Magazine and Wine & Spirit International amongst other titles.
In 1997 he left Quest to co-found Paragraph Publishing. At Paragraph he launched Whisky Magazine and Scotland Magazine and was editor and publisher of both titles. In addition, he developed Whisky Live.
He is a Keeper of the Quaich, a Kentucky Colonel, a member of the Institute of Directors and the Chartered Institute of Public Relations.
JOY SIMPSON - DIRECTOR
After completing a Design & Arts Foundation Course at the DeMontfort University, Joy took an MSc in Textile Management at UMIST. Thereafter, she embarked on a successful retail design career with spells at George Davis and others.
Having specialised in textile design, Joy sought to expand her horizons by moving into other design fields and disciplines.
After setting up the UK office of a Hong Kong company, Joy went to work for Peter Wylie and became general manager of the lighting designer’s international business. From Peter Wylie Joy moved to Magnificent Mouchoirs and Presents Direct where she started as office manager and was seconded to create and run the PR department.
Marcin and Joy combined their complementary skills to found Quercus Communications Ltd in April 2004.
RUBYNA SHEIKH - PRODUCTION MANAGER
Rubyna joined Quercus Communications Ltd in June 2007 with over 20 years experience in the creative industry, particularly photography, advertising and marketing, publishing and event management.
Prior to Quercus Communications she spent six years at Whisky Magazine and ran Whisky Live London and Whisky Live Glasgow.
Having studied subjects as diverse as particle physics & quantum mechanics and countryside management, Rubyna is now studying towards a Chartered Institute of Public Relations qualification.
